General School Introduction

Belmore Boys High School is a comprehensive, culturally diverse High School in the inner west of Sydney. The clear focus of the school is on teaching and learning with continued academic improvement reflected bythe school being chosen by the Minister of Education in 1999 as the venue for the media launch of the state-wide English Language and Literacy Assessment (ELLA) results. In the same year, the school was the recipient of a Director-General of Education School Achievement Award for Establishing a Strong Learning Culture.

As well as having access to a wide academic curriculum, students are afforded opportunities in a full range of extracurricular activities including dance groups, debating, a variety of sports, camps, drama, field studies, and youth rock.

English as a Second Language (ESL) Programs

· An ESL and academic languages unit delivers targeted coaching to all international students.
